It all started with a house plan…
Welcome to Shookhill Secret! For years family and friends have asked, where did the name Shookhill originate. Why do you keep referring to your home as Shookhill. It’s really quite simple. Shookhill was actually the name of the Southern Living house plan that we used to build our house about ten years ago. Since then, we have affectionately referred to our home as Shookhill. Hello world – we’re Shookhill. It has been our retreat, the name name of the pottery studio, our honey/canning label and our resort/spa for guests that visit. Now, it is the basis of our blog, the concept behind Shookhill.
As for the Secret part, well, there’s really nothing secret about it. There is no special sauce or secret ingredient. It’s really quite simple. The secret is not about the money spent on a design project, a gift or a meal. It’s more about the effort and attention put into the details. There’s always going to be someone out there with more resources to put into an endeavor. For us, the “secret” is really making the best out of what you have and being happy when you do the best you can.
Whether it’s the way you have chosen a friend’s gift, wrapped and presented it, or the way you make a dessert for your family – the secret is being pleased with your effort. We work very hard to provide easy-to-do projects, delicious recipes, entertaining guides, fun adventures to inspire you and all of the resources you need to do it all.
