From Europe to the Maine Coast, This Season Has Our Whole Heart.
There is something about the first real week of June that makes us want to set down the to-do list, step onto the porch with a tall glass of iced tea, and just breathe. Summer has always felt like permission, hasn’t it? Permission to move a little slower, linger a little longer at the table, and let the evenings stretch out golden and unhurried.
We’ve been leaning into that feeling hard over here — and this summer, we’re taking it all the way across the Atlantic and back again.
First up, we’re heading to the Netherlands to spend time with family, and we could not be more excited about it. There is something irreplaceable about being in the same room as the people who you share your history with, and we are very much looking forward to that time together. Europe in the summer has its own kind of magic — the long daylight hours, the flower markets, the unhurried café culture that makes you wonder why we ever rush through anything at all. We’ll soak up every bit of it and explore some additional countries while we are there.
And then — because this summer is clearly not playing around — we’re heading to the coast of Maine.
If you’ve been following along with us for a while, you know Maine holds a very special place in our hearts. We’ve written about it before — those long walks along the beach at sunset, the way the air smells like pine and salt and something almost mythical, the lobster shack and little harbor towns that make you feel like time forgot to rush you. We’ll sit in those Adirondak chairs and stargaze until it’s too chilly to stay out. We’ll take the beach walks we always talk about taking more of during the year and we’ll pick blueberries, make jam and eat more ice cream that we probably should. This is what summer is for.
For those of you who are also plotting your own warm-weather escapes, we’ve put together two resources we’re genuinely proud of: our Summer Style Guide and our Travel Style Guide. Whether you’re heading somewhere like the flower-lined streets of the Netherlands, the rugged Maine coastline, or simply looking to make your own backyard feel like a proper summer destination — these guides are full of relaxed outfit options that help prepare for the season.
Our older posts from Maine are worth revisiting if you’re planning a trip — we’ve covered everything from where to stay to what to pack for those chilly evening bonfires (yes, even in summer, Maine nights have a bite to them, and we love it).
For now, the iced tea is poured, the suitcases are nearly packed, and the world is calling. We hope your summer is shaping up to be exactly what you need it to be — slow, sweet, and full of the people who matter most.
See you on the other side of the lobster roll. 🦞
