French Onion Soup

Ingredients

  • 4 large onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 Tbls. butter
  • 2 Tbls. Olive oil
  • 4 cups beef or chicken stock
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Bay leaves

Instructions

  • Bread, parmesan and gruyere cheese when serving
  • Cook onions and garlic in butter & olive oil till lightly browned in a dutch oven (We absolutely love our Le Creuset pan).
    Add stock and Worcestershire sauce and bay leaves.
    Cook for at least 2 hours on low heat.
    Season with salt & pepper to taste.
    To serve, top with toasted crusty bread that has been broiled with parmesan/gruyere cheese on top.
