Shookhill Apple Bread

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup apple sauce
  • 1 mashed ripe banana
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups all -purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup cooked apples or apple pie filling

Instructions

  • Combine the first 5 ingredients in a small bowl or measuring cup until combined.
  • Sift the dry ingredients.
  • Mix the dry ingredients together then add the combined wet ingredients to combine.
  • Mix in the vanilla, walnuts and cooked apples.
  • Gently mix all together.
  • Pour into a prepared (buttered and floured) bundt cake pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the bread.
  • Let the bread cool before removing it from the pan. Slice it up, and you’re ready to enjoy a cozy slice of homemade apple bread, perfect with a hot cup of tea or coffee!
    This bread freezes well. Wrap slices in waxed paper and put them into a sealed freezer-safe container to enjoy throughout the season.
