1lb.sliced ham
1lb.shredded Swiss cheese
½cupcaramelized onionsabout 2 medium onions
½cupbuttermelted
1tablespoonDijon mustard
1tablespoonWorcestershire sauce
1tablespoonpoppy seeds
1tablespoondried minced onion
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
Place the bottoms of the rolls in the baking dish. Layer on the ham, then sprinkle the cheese over the ham and then top with a teaspoon of the caramelized onions. Place the top of the rolls over the sandwich to complete assembly.
In a separate bowl combine the butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds and minced onion. Whisk to combine and brush over the top of the sandwiches until all of the mixture is used.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes – until the tops of the rolls are slightly browned and the cheese has melted.
Serve immediately.
Notes
These sandwiches are very versatile and can be made in a variety of meat and cheese combinations. When we are serving a big group, we like to make a tray of each – ham & swiss, roast beef & cheddar and turkey & provolone.
